Want to know how much a calendar of cosplay girls managed to raise in the period of one year for the Japanese Red Cross?

NEARLY $30,000.00. YEAH, YOU READ THAT NUMBER RIGHT. I DIDN'T MISPRINT THOSE ZEROS.

Why nearly? Because we are LESS THAN $1,000.00 away from that number. Help us reach that goal and get a calendar before they sell out.

Pretty amazing that what started out as a silly hobby for all of us is going to make such a huge difference!

From the CFAC Facebook:

Cosplay for a Cause is incredibly proud to announce we are currently less than $1,000 away from a grand total of $30,000 to donate to the Japanese Red Cross.

We have just enough calendars left to reach this goal, and all of us here at Cosplay for a Cause would love to sell out! If you haven't ordered a calendar already, please consider doing so at cosplayforacause.com. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross. If you have already purchased a calendar, please pass this message along to your friends and encourage them to purchase one to help us reach our goal!

We want to thank everyone who has purchased a calendar so far for your support in our cause. Thank you!!

This Thursday I will be attending the Child's Play Charity Auction in Seattle, WA. Child's Play is a wonderful charity that helps kids in hospitals stay positive and upbeat by providing video games, toys, books, and more. The auction includes a lot of video-game themed items, one of which will be a Chun-Li themed leather and silk corset that I made! Even if you aren't at the auction, I have been told that Twitter and Facebook folks can place bids through a proxy. More details on that when I get them!

The corset I've posted below is the display model for the auction. This is so people can get an idea of what they're bidding on. The winning bidder will receive a replica of the corset made to his or her exact measurements. Want to know more about this great organization? Check out their website and please share this status to spread the word!

Expect some more deviations of this over the next few days!

For the past few years I've done a wig/makeup booth at Dragon*Con.  However, I'm changing things up a little bit this year.  With my business rapidly moving into more and more custom costumes and wigs, stocking a large amount of retail makeup and wigs simply isn't feasible anymore.   Although most of my wig stock is now depleted, I will be having a MASSIVE makeup sale and showing off some of my custom work for those interested in commissioning costumes for next year.  I will still have my standard costume emergency items as well.  For easy reference, here is what I'll have available:

ALL ITEMS BELOW: $2.00 EACH

Eyeshadows (many colors)
Eyeliners (black, brown, white)
Lipsticks (many colors)
Lipbalms
Powders (many colors, pressed and loose)
Blushes (many colors)
Shimmers and glitters (many colors)
Hair pins (black)
Makeup applicators (latex wedges, brushes, mascara wands, lip brushes)
Wig caps (black, brown, white, xlarge)
Hair nets
Some bodypaint (limited)

Help me get rid of my extra stock while getting some great items to add the finishing touches to your costume!  Also, unlike previous years, I will not have a makeup artist available at my booth.  I will be able to accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and of course Dragon*Con dollars.

Already thinking about costumes for next year?  In addition to my makeup sale, I will have examples of my custom costume/wig work that visitors to my booth can see up close, as well as an extensive portfolio of my past projects.  Time pending, I hope to have a few custom costume items for sale as well.  Want to see some of my work before the convention?  You can check out my website: www.gstqfashions.com or my Facebook: www.facebook.com/gstqfashions

I will be located in the dealers room in the bottom level of the Mariott.  My table number is A54.

Lastly, I'll be co-hosting two panels on the costuming track this year.  Find me on Friday at 2:30 for "Getting Started and Sewing Basics" along with Pamela Cole, Chris Mueller, and Joy Lanterman.  You can also find me on Monday at 2:30 for "Pattern Making: Designing and Frankensteining" with Chris Mueller and Aurora Celeste.  For more info, check out the costuming track page here: costuming.dragoncon.org/

Hope to see ya'll there!

It was recently brought to my attention that a handful of websites are using my images to sell their products. If you purchase an Altair costume from any of these websites, you will NOT receive the item pictured. Buyer beware!

I am not the only cosplayer that this sort of thing happens to!  Please do not support companies that steal from hardworking artists.  These companies are using my photos to represent a mass produced costume item that is no where near the quality (both in fabric and sewing) of my work.  It is completely misleading advertising.

Want to see the original?  Oh, look, it has been on my website for TWO YEARS.

In the spirit of trying new things, I will be offering some of my patterns for sale.  The process it takes to re-trace these to be large-format-copy ready takes a while, so I won't offer all my patterns.  At this time, here is what I can make available:

Lightning (sleeveless jacket, skirt, gun bag, shoe templates, gloves, cape holder. belt, fabric swatches)
Extra small (not recommended for bust or hip size larger than 36")
$45.00

Edit: After getting the Lightning master pattern ready, it ended up taking far more paper than I planned for, hence the copying cost is higher than I expected, hence the adjusted price above.

Patterns are available only in the sizes listed.  They will come on a single sheet, folded up and shipped in an 8x11 envelope.  The prices above include shipping anywhere within the US.  International customers please email me directly for a shipping estimate.

So, here is how this first run will work.  I will take pre-orders for any of these patterns and at the end of the month, I will make one run to the copiers.  If you're interested or have questions before you buy, email gstqfashions@gmail.com with "<INSERT CHARCTER NAME HERE> PATTERNS" as your subject.

Questions I expect to get and some answers:

1. Can you offer these in different sizes?
No, I don't have the time to re-size any of these.  What you see available is what you get.

2. Can I buy a pattern for a costume you don't have listed?
No, unfortunately I won't be offering all my patterns for sale.  I have chosen the above listed ones because they can fit on to a single large format sheet and are simple enough that I can still easily provide "tech support" for construction questions.

3. Why are you charging these prices?
I need to make it worth my time to re-trace and re-format these so that other people can understand and use them.  I also need to take into account the time it takes to get all of these copied, packed up, and sent out to everyone.  If I just charged the cost of copying plus shipping, I'd break even and I've lost many, many hours that I could've spent working.  So, in essence, I'd actually lose money.  Remember, this is how I make my living!

4. I bought a pattern and I'm having trouble putting my garment together.  Can you help?
I can certainly help within reason.  I can't post an exact step-by-step of how I put each garment together, but there will be labels and notes on the pattern pieces indicating the order in which they should be sewn.  Keep in mind I'm expecting that the buyer already has some moderate sewing experience.

To purchase, send payments via PayPal to orders@godsavethequeenfashions.com.  Thanks, and happy sewing!
